MSJC SI Mission Statement
In a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment, our mission is to engage students in their learning experience so they can earn the best grades possible. We achieve this by providing collaborative, peer-led sessions where students gather study skills and tools to apply in class and in other aspects of their life.
The MSJC SI Logo
the SI students, the SI Leaders, the SI Instructors, and the SI Coordinator.
The MSJC SI Logo was developed using the 4 diamonds as a base and incorporating an abbreviated form of the SI Logo ("tell me, show me, involve me"). The final addition, the placement of the "hashi" was made in the Spring 2011 semester. The "hashi" (chopstick) is the symbol of the MSJC SI Program. In the Japanese culture, the hashi is a traditional wedding gift because in marriage, like hashi, it takes two to work. For the MSJC SI Program, the hashi represents the partnership between the SI Leader and the SI Instructor. Thanks to all the SI Leaders who contributed to the creation of the MSJC SI Logo!
MSJC Certification
Mt. San Jacinto College Proudly Announces Recognition of Excellence for Premier Program
A program at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ that delivers peer support to students in difficult courses recently received recognition for excellence in the state and the nation.
MSJC Supplemental Instruction (SI), a premier academic assistance program, is only the fifth college SI program in California to receive certification by the International Center for Supplemental Instruction, said Janice Levasseur, the program’s coordinator. The certification, received in January, endorses the MSJC SI Program’s commitment to the core principles of the SI Model and carries with it prestige and privileges. MSJC’s application demonstrated the SI Program’s commitment to SI Leader training and support, SI session planning, and the MSJC SI data. Commendations were given in the areas of training and mentoring. In addition to being the fifth college in California to receive this certification, it is one of only 25 colleges across the nation in the United States to achieve this distinction.
