MSJC's Dr. Schultz named by Community College League of California as member of 2022-23 CEOCCC Board Officers

At the June Board Meeting, the Chief Executive Officers of the California Community Colleges (CEOCCC) Board elected the following 2022-23 board officers:
- President, Jose Fierro, Cerritos CCD
- President-Elect, Julianna Barnes, Cuyamaca College
- Vice President North, Rowena Tomaneng, San Jose City College
- Vice President South, Roger Schultz, Mt. San Jacinto CCD
In addition, the board welcomes five new CEOCCC Board representatives and the return of one existing board member:
Elected by their areas
- Sunita Cooke, Superintendent/President, Mira Costa CCD (Area 11) – newly elected
- Bradley Davis, Chancellor, West-Valley Mission CCD (Area 4) – newly elected
- Chris Vitelli, Superintendent/President, Merced CCD (Area 3) – newly elected
At-Large Appointments (appointed at the June 17th meeting)
- Julianna Barnes, President, Cuyamaca College – re-appointed
- Mary Gallagher, President, Los Angeles City College – newly appointed
- Char Perlas, Superintendent/President, College of the Siskiyous – newly appointed
The takes positions on education policy issues that come before the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and the California State Legislature. CEOCCC Board members represent their colleagues by region or at-large and fulfill the important responsibility of analyzing and making recommendations on legislation and the State Budget. "I am humbled by the opportunity to lead this visionary CEOCCC Board this coming year. As new and stubborn challenges arise, the Board will be laser-focused on fresh ideas to innovate old modalities that have historically limited student access and equity. Our ultimate goal is to identify strategies that lift our students and their families out of poverty and into the middle class, especially during this time of economic uncertainty. By investing in more resources and implementing strategic policies, the CEOCCC Board can help our districts to adopt more holistic support models that remove barriers so our students can thrive. I’m excited to work with my colleagues to advance our mission of student success," said Dr. Jose Fierro, President/Superintendent of Cerritos College. Those elected to the CEOCCC Board began their term on June 1, 2022. The members elected will serve 3-year terms.
