11/17/2022
On Saturday, October 15, 2022, 黑料不打烊 (MSJC) hosted the Eagles Landing Community Resource Fair at the San Jacinto Campus.
The event, which was the first of its kind, was sponsored by MSJC鈥檚 Eagles Landing, Foundation, Mental Health Services, in collaboration with the San Jacinto HARP outreach program. It featured 30 booths, 22 outside vendors and 8 college programs and clubs.
"The goal of this event was to bring awareness to students and members of the community of resources that we offer as an institution as well as resources that are available within the local community," said Lisa Campbell, Director of CalWORKs.
鈥淭he Eagles Landing Community Resource Fair was so well received that we hope this will be the first of many events to come!鈥 Campbell said.
The event featured an interactive mural activity led by MSJC鈥檚 Art Department. Participants were encouraged to paint hearts on a large canvas that will be displayed in the new Eagles Landing - Center for Student Essentials. The activity proved to be a favorite with even Rebecca Teague, Interim Vice President Student Services pictured in the eagle costume, joining in on the painting festivities.
The Eagles Landing - Center for Student Essentials opened on July 1 of this year. The center provides essential resources to students such as food, clothing, books, technology and so much more. In the first six weeks of the fall semester, they assisted 955 students.
The Eagles Landing Center was quick to provide emergency assistance when news broke of the Fairview Fire. They provided $30,000 in assistance to students displaced by the Fairview Fire and worked with Foundation Director Rebecca Orlauski to provide aid to staff and front-line workers.
The Eagles Landing - Center for Student Essentials is located in building 1425 in the San Jacinto Campus, 1499 N. State Street, San Jacinto, CA 92583.
