Bio:
Leticia Luna-Sims has been at MSJC for 15 years in a variety of capacities, including counseling, teaching, coordinator and currently as a director for the current Title V HSI grant. She co-chaired Student Equity Committee, now the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility Implementation Team, and served as Academic Senate President.
- Over 10 years of counseling experience with various departments in Student Services
- Served as project lead and coordinator for various Title V-HSI grants, including data collection and reporting
- Establish collaborative partnerships with campus partners to provide equity-minded and culturally-relevant student programming, including HSI week, Latinx Heritage Month, Pride Week, Kwanzaa, Undocumented Student Week of Action, STEM, and FYE Summer Bridge
- Participate and lead professional development to enhance grant objectives and district mission and equity initiatives
- Build collegial relationships with faculty from various pathways to educate and engage campus communities about MSJC as an HSI, servingness, and Math UP grant objectives
Not only does Leticia come with her professional experience, but also offers her personal experience and history. As a daughter of immigrants, a Latina, a first-generation college student, and a product of community college, Leticia identify with our students. She has a keen understanding of the barriers that many of our students face day to day and is passionate about working to transform our institution to serve MSJC students.
